Artist member since 2019

I am resident of Ottawa Ontario and I am a"late" emerging artist, mother of 3 and about to retire from the career that has occupied my life for 30 years. Up until now I have been mostly self taught but with help from recreational classes at the OSA (most notably with Blair Sharpe). I begin a BFA programme at UofO in fall 2019.
I have experimental tendencies and working intuitively using texture colour and shape, I am often inspired by memories of personal places or events but also by words/ poems or music. Originals are predominantly acrylic but often enhanced by collage, embedded foreign objects, acrylic skins or graphite and chalk pastels.
Although Abstract in type; some of my work has more representational tendencies than other pieces. My work often has a landscape feel with personal symbols or narrative embedded within. Some of these are fairly easily recognized or are more generally seen and satisfy my need for communication. Some embedded narratives are whimsical and allow me to express that inner child that some days cannot be repressed. On other occasions symbols are very personal and then the observers psychological input becomes more important to their experience and their perceived narrative less often matches my own β¦ and of course that is the way it should be sometimes?
